“I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed. O Lord, you are a great and awesome God. You always fulfill your covenant and keep your promises to those who love you and obey your commands.” Daniel 9:4
Recognition of the one being spoken to is important. Maybe you have never thought about it, but we tend to do this in other human situations as well. You introduce a guest speaker by sharing some amazing thing he has done. In the army you address someone by rank and then perhaps remind that person of when you last met up. Daniel begins with the recognition of the one he needs help from. He recognizes the awesome God who can be trusted to keep his word.
Daniel put his faith and trust in God. He has learned that God can be trusted. God and Daniel had a relationship, a good relationship. So Daniel reaches out to God for answers. He expects to get answers from his great God who keeps his promises.
Maybe you are struggling this morning with matters not in your control. Do you trust God enough to take the matter to him? People break promises all the time, however, God keeps his word. As Daniel’s prayer suggests, our God can be trusted to do as he says. Take him at his word. Dare to believe that God will work it all out for your good.
