The lucky man is he who despises luck.
The unlucky one is the fellow who worships it.

Luck is a flimsy thing to lean on. It shifts, it fades, it disappoints. But the man who despises luck—who refuses to trust in chance—is actually the one who stands on the strongest ground. He knows his life is not governed by randomness but by a faithful God who orders every step.

Christian perspective on luck

Scripture says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord” (Psalm 37:23). That’s not luck—that’s sovereignty. That’s purpose. That’s a Father guiding His child.

The “unlucky” man is simply the one who bows to the wrong god. He worships luck, hoping it will favor him. But luck cannot bless. It cannot protect. It cannot provide. It is as empty as the idols Israel was warned against: “Those who make them will be like them, and so will all who trust in them” (Psalm 115:8).

The believer doesn’t need luck. He has something infinitely better:

• God’s favor — “For You bless the righteous, O Lord; You surround him with favor as with a shield” (Psalm 5:12).
• God’s guidance — “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths” (Proverbs 3:6).
• God’s providence — “We know that all things work together for good to those who love God” (Romans 8:28).

Luck is random. God is intentional.

So today, reject the myth of chance. Walk confidently in the truth that your Father is directing your path, shaping your future, and working all things for your good.

The man who trusts God never needs luck.
