Praying for our Leaders
“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them. Intercede on their behalf and give thanks for them.
Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.” 1Timothy 2:1-2
At this point I must confess that I do not do this like I should. That part about being thankful, well I find it frustrating when I see what our leaders are up to. I read these words and know that I need to step up the pace, praying regularly for our leaders.
Paul speaks here to Timothy about persistent prayer. Is God calling you and me to be prayer warriors? I would say yes. Will we?
Dear Heavenly Father this morning I confess that I have neglected to regularly pray for our leaders. Today I want to lift them up and beg you to bring about your will for our nation through the leaders you have permitted to be there. We need your help in this land Lord, as our nation is in trouble. You and only you can change the minds of those in charge and yet we know from experience that you can do just that and so we come to you. May this nation again be “one nation under God” I pray in Jesus name.
