There is only one God
“For there is one God and one mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus.” 1Timothy 2:5
Sometimes life is simple. At times there is only one way and it is good to know that way. I think about that when I go to prepare a frozen dinner. First I must read the instructions on the box. That way I know just how long it should take to heat it up and not burn it. By following the given instructions I should get a good result, or at least I hope so.
In life we also have this idea of one way. God almighty is the only god. He reigns superior to all. And because he is holy and we are not we were separated from him. Then Jesus stepped in as the mediator, making relationship possible. Praise the LORD!
Remember that our chapter is about worship. Here Paul reminds Timothy and us that there is but one God. We need to submit to his governing authority. We must worship the one true God and serve him only. “Thou shalt worship the LORD thy God and him only shalt thou serve.” It is simple, yet that is what makes it so clear. There need not be any confusion here. We know our creator and he desires for us to worship him.
