Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you … Continue reading →

Today’s Christians: No Hope in God’s Way

Jeremiah Project Posted on by

By Chuck Baldwin July 9, 2008 I ask the indulgence of my non-churched readers, as this column is specifically designed to challenge the hearts and minds of professing believers. The Old Testament prophet Jeremiah faced a generation that is very similar to the one we face today, I am afraid. Political and corporate leaders had given themselves over to corruption and duplicity. The fundamental underpinnings that founded and supported the nation were being dismantled. And the spiritual leaders seemed to … Continue reading →

World Views: Pragmatism

Jeremiah Project Posted on by

Pragmatism is more concerned with what ‘works’ than with what is true. In the absence of objective truth, how are we to decide which of two possible actions is preferable? The answer is provided by the only philosophical system made in America: pragmatism which maintains that the value of ideas is determined by their consequences. Developed by the 19th-century American philosophers Charles Sanders Peirce, William James, and others, this philosophical doctrine holds that the test of the truth of a … Continue reading →

Welfare: Is It Biblical?

Jeremiah Project Posted on by

Any cursory review of this issue has to conclude that we have to change welfare as we know it. We simply cannot continue to handle this problem as we have in the past. Having established this as a premise, what does the Bible reveal about this critical matter? Can we discharge our responsibilities to the poor by personal charitable action or through supporting the humanitarian (i.e. welfare) policies of the State? President Lyndon Johnson’s “war on poverty” is now into … Continue reading →

What Does Preparedness Mean to You?

Jeremiah Project Posted on by

Preparedness used to be a word reserved for ‘conspiracy theorists’. People would think you were a little strange if you were ready at a moment’s notice to evacuate with an emergency kit, or if you stored extra food and water in case the stores shut down due to a natural disaster. That’s no longer the case. The Federal Emergency Management Agency, state emergency management agencies, the American Red Cross, and other leading government and non-profit agencies are consistently delivering the … Continue reading →

Martin Luthers’ 95 Theses

Jeremiah Project Posted on by

The following are the 95 theses Augustinian monk Martin Luther nailed to a church door in Wittenberg, Germany 1. When our Lord and Master Jesus Christ said, “Repent” (Mt 4:17), he willed the entire life of believers to be one of repentance. 2. This word cannot be understood as referring to the sacrament of penance, that is, confession and satisfaction, as administered by the clergy. 3. Yet it does not mean solely inner repentance; such inner repentance is worthless unless … Continue reading →

Forgiveness and Reconciliation

Jeremiah Project Posted on by

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times. [Matthew 18:21-22] “A Bad Dream” “DAD how dare you look in my diary?” Max screamed at his father in fury. Chuck was red with anger at his little boy for what he read in that diary. “How dare you lie to me? You said … Continue reading →

Ecumenism of Baha’i World Faith

Jeremiah Project Posted on by

As chaos envelops the world, the crucial need of the human race is to find a unifying vision of the nature of man and society. For the past century humanity’s response to this impulse has driven a succession of ideological upheavals that have convulsed our world and that appear now to have exhausted themselves. The passion invested in the struggle, despite its disheartening results, testifies to the depth of the need. For, without a common conviction about the course and … Continue reading →

Understanding the Role of the Media as Gatekeeper

Jeremiah Project Posted on by

The gatekeeper decides what information goes forward and what does not. Controlling the populations primary sources of information is one of the most effective ways to manipulate and “regulate” the minds and consciousness of a mass of people at a very basic level. This powerful way to shape the collective consciousness of the public has been in the hands of the multi-national corporate mass media in the United States for decades and many mass media outlets have been both willingly … Continue reading →

Read God’s Word daily (Acts 17:11) – begin with the Gospel of John. Obey God moment by moment (John 14:21). Witness for Christ by your life and words (Matthew 4:19; John 15:8).
