“And some of the wise will fall victim to persecution. In this way they will be refined and cleansed and made pure until the time of the end. For the appointed time is yet to come.” Daniel 11:35

Strange verse for a meditation you may say, but let us consider. Daniel is hearing these words as he learns about the end times. Yes persecution happens, even if you live right and do good.

Some would have you believe that God won’t let bad things happen to good people. Prosperity gospel folks want to say God keeps us from such things, yet scripture says no such thing. Persecution does happen to good and godly people. And through persecution God refines our character, makes clean our hearts, and purifies us. Thus God uses persecution to mold us and make us into the likeness of his son. He uses persecution to build us up.

When persecution comes, and it will, consider what God is doing within you. Rather than to dwell in self pity let us trust the Lord and continue in his ways. Our God knows what he is doing. Walk through the fire with your God.
