The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 and subsequent threats of biological warfare against US citizens prompted calls by public health officials to prepare for mass vaccination campaigns for anthrax and smallpox. Could Chronic Wasting Disease Be Used in Biological Warfare?

Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) is a contagious neurological disease that causes a spongy degeneration of the brains resulting in emaciation, abnormal behavior, loss of bodily functions and death. It is said to only affect deer, elk and moose.
