Trust in the Lord
“Be still in the presence of the LORD and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. Stop being angry. Turn from your rage. Don’t lose your temper. It only leads to harm.” Psalm 37:7-8
Oh how easily we get all worked up. So much stupid currently is happening in our nation that it tends to make me want to scream. How about you?
And how would God have us respond to our wicked world? Verse 8 tells me to stop being angry, to not let rage continue. Control my temper he says. When I think about rage and anger problems I tend to look beyond and ask why?
Part of the human way is this desire to control. When we cannot control then we tend to lash out, trying to get a grip, trying to take control. Trouble is that we cannot control our world. And thus comes frustration and perhaps even more anger. Then what is the answer?
The answer is to see God as the one who is in control, to see current events as temporary events that will eventually pass. I encourage you to read the entire Psalm so that you can grasp this point clearly. The wicked will face judgement. Good will triumph over evil. Maybe it won’t happen according to my playbook or your playbook, but it will happen. So trust in the Lord and do what you know is best. Live in the land and reach out to others who have proven themselves faithful and trust, yes trust in the Lord.
